What Akshaya Tritiya is

Akshaya Tritiya is Baisakh Shukla Tritiya. Akshaya means "that which does not diminish": what is given, begun or prayed for on this day is believed to last. It is one of the days families choose for a puja, a first purchase or the start of new work.

How families keep it

In Nepal people share sarbat and sattu made from barley on this day, give to those in need and worship Vishnu and Laxmi.
