Selling in the Bazaar

The Bazaar is where sellers in the community put up what they make or stock, and families nearby ask for it. Here is how it works, what you agree to as a seller, and what a buyer should know.

How it works

  • Create your profile and choose "I want to sell": your business name, your city and your phone number. Once the team has approved you, sign in and add your items, each with a picture, a description, your price and how a buyer gets it.
  • The Booking Sarathi team looks at every seller before anything goes up, and may call you. You get an email when you are approved.
  • Add as many items as you like, each with its own pictures, description, price, pickup or delivery, and how many you have.
  • A buyer asks for an item on the site and a chat with you opens with their order written out. You agree there where and when they get it and how they settle it with you.
  • Mark each order sold or not sold on its page. That is all the site asks of you.

Your price and Booking Sarathi's commission

You set your own price for each item, and you choose the commission you give Booking Sarathi on it, from 0% to 30% (5% unless you change it). The commission is added on top of your price, so the buyer covers it and sees one price. An item you list at $100 with 5% shows as $105: $100 is yours and $5 is Booking Sarathi's part.

  • The buyer settles the whole amount with you directly. No money passes through the site.
  • Each order's page shows what it comes to, your part and Booking Sarathi's part. You pass that part on to Booking Sarathi; we will be in touch about how and when.
  • The commission is on the item only, never on a delivery fee.

Pickup, delivery and how many you have

  • Tick pickup, delivery or both for each item. For delivery you set the fee, which the buyer is shown, and if you wish the smallest order you will deliver.
  • Your address is never shown on the site, also when you offer pickup. A buyer sees only your city. Never write your address in an item or on your page: the site refuses it. You and the buyer agree the place and time in the chat.
  • If you only have so many of an item, say how many. The count goes down when a buyer asks and comes back if the order does not sell, so nobody can ask for more than you have.
  • A request you do not answer is closed after 7 days and its units go back on sale.

What you cannot list

  • Cooked meals, and any food that is not packaged, sealed and labelled
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco, vapes and cannabis
  • Medicines, supplements and anything that claims to treat or cure
  • Firearms, ammunition and other weapons
  • Live animals
  • Counterfeit, stolen or recalled goods
  • Anything it is against the law to sell where you live, or that needs a licence or permit you do not hold

Booking Sarathi may take any item off the Bazaar, and will tell you why.

Selling food

  • Food must be packaged: sealed and labelled. Cooked meals, and anything served fresh or made to order, cannot be listed.
  • You are the seller of the food and responsible for it. Booking Sarathi does not make, pack, inspect or test any food.
  • Follow the food laws where you live. They differ by state and by kind of food, and meat and dairy products usually have to come from a licensed and inspected kitchen or plant. Check what applies to you before you list.
  • List the ingredients as the label has them, and say plainly if it contains milk, eggs, nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, sesame, fish or shellfish. The pack should show its best-before date.

If you are buying

›Who sells the items in the Bazaar?

Each item is sold by the seller named on its page, an independent seller that Booking Sarathi has approved. Booking Sarathi shows the item and passes your order request to the seller. It does not make, check, store or deliver the item. You settle the sale with the seller directly.

›How do I buy something?

Open the item, choose how many and whether you will pick it up or have it delivered, and send the order. A chat with the seller opens with your order written out. You and the seller agree there where and when you get the item and how you settle it with them. For pickup the site shows only the seller's city, never an address. The seller then marks the order sold.

›Is the food checked by Booking Sarathi?

No. Food in the Bazaar is packaged food sold by the seller. Booking Sarathi does not make, pack, inspect or test any food. Check the label for ingredients, allergens and dates, and if you have an allergy or a dietary need, ask the seller before you order.

›What if something is wrong with what I bought?

Talk to the seller first: the sale is between you and them. If that does not settle it, or you think an item should not be in the Bazaar, use "Report this item" on its page or write to support@bookingsarathi.com.
