Buddha Jayanti is the full moon of Baisakh. Gautam Buddha was born on this day in Lumbini, in today's Nepal, reached enlightenment on the same full moon and passed into mahaparinirvana on it. It is a public holiday in Nepal and a day of peace for Buddhists and Hindus alike. The same full moon is Chandi Purnima, and the Kirat community keeps Ubhauli.
How families keep it
People visit Lumbini, Swayambhu, Boudha or their nearest monastery, light butter lamps, give to those in need and hold a puja at home.

Each date is the day Nepal keeps the festival. Nepal publishes its patro one year at a time, so a date further ahead can move by a day when that year's patro comes out. For a ceremony, Pandit Ji confirms the day and the muhurta.
