What Fagu Purnima (Holi) is

Fagu Purnima is the full moon of Falgun, the festival of colours that welcomes spring. It recalls the devotee Prahlad, who came out of the fire unharmed while Holika, who meant to burn him, was destroyed: good outlasting evil. Nepal's hills keep Holi on the day the full moon holds the evening; the Terai keeps it the following day.

How families keep it

Friends and families put abir and coloured water on one another and share sweets. Many households hold a puja on the full moon before the colours.
