What Rama Ekadashi is

Rama Ekadashi is the eleventh day of the dark fortnight of Kartik, a few days before Laxmi Puja. Rama is a name of Goddess Laxmi, and Vishnu and Laxmi are worshipped together on this day.

How families keep it

Those who keep the fast eat no grain or pulses that day; many take only fruit, milk and roots, and some take nothing at all. Lord Vishnu is worshipped with tulsi leaves, and the fast is broken the next morning, on Dwadashi.
