Vijaya Ekadashi is the eleventh day of the dark fortnight of Falgun. Vijaya means victory. Lord Rama kept this fast on the shore of the sea, on the advice of the sage Bakadalbhya, before he crossed to Lanka. It is kept before a hard task.
How families keep it
Those who keep the fast eat no grain or pulses that day; many take only fruit, milk and roots, and some take nothing at all. Lord Vishnu is worshipped with tulsi leaves, and the fast is broken the next morning, on Dwadashi.

Each date is the day Nepal keeps the festival. Nepal publishes its patro one year at a time, so a date further ahead can move by a day when that year's patro comes out. For a ceremony, Pandit Ji confirms the day and the muhurta.
